Description
At first glance, it looks like just a T-shirt.
But behind it lies a philosophy.
Speak without words.
Anger or reason—
express it through what you wear.
Embroidered on this T-shirt
is not the twisted face of a demon,
but a “human mask”—
where emotion and intellect collide.
Hannya represents
wisdom in Buddhism,
yet also embodies
a woman consumed by jealousy and obsession
in traditional Noh theater.
We were drawn to that duality,
and captured it in embroidery.
What is "Hannya"?
The Hannya mask is a traditional
Japanese mask used in “Noh theater,”
a classical form of Japanese masked drama
that dates back over 600 years.
It represents a woman consumed
by jealousy and sorrow,
transforming into a demon.
Although the face is frightening,
the mask also expresses deep human emotion—
anger, pain, love, regret.
Therefore, since ancient times
Hannya has also been seen
as a spiritual protector,
believed to ward off evil spirits
and misfortune.
This T-shirt features an original
embroidered Hannya design,
crafted in Japan with precision and soul.
Today, however, the Hannya motif
is also embraced by younger generations
as a symbol of boldness
and staying true to oneself.
It carries a dual meaning—
both traditional and street—
making it a unique design
that bridges the past and present.
Not just a souvenir,
this is a piece you can wear
as everyday streetwear.
—A Manifesto for the Proudly Chuunibyou—
It’s not about how others see you—
it’s about how you choose to be.
This is a declaration of intent.
Like the back of a Sukajan jacket,
it might feel a bit too much.
But that’s exactly why it’s cool.
Sukajan and embroidered T-shirts
share the same spirit.
- Maybe no one will understand.
- But that’s exactly why
you wear it—to express yourself. - This Hannya doesn’t speak.
- It sits on your chest,
and speaks for you. - No words necessary—
let the embroidery say it all.
Subtle but bold
We didn’t want to go over the top
with a loud Hannya motif.
So the embroidery is small and discreet.
Subtle, yet bold—
that’s how we do things.
